Westwood City Council has vacancy; Katy Weber resigns due to move

The Westwood City Council has another vacancy. Councilor Katy Weber, whose term is up in April, has purchased a home outside the city.

Weber’s is the second council seat to turn over in the last year because of moves outside the city. Last April, the seat held by Jace McClasky became vacant when he moved and was replaced by Lisa Cummins. Cummins relinquished the seat in August due to a temporary move.

That seat is now held by Steve Stubbers who was appointed to the council in October. That seat also is one of the three at-large council positions that are up for election this year in Westwood.

Weber sent the following resignation to Mayor John Yé and the council:

“Please accept this letter of resignation effective December 24.  Our family has purchased a home outside of Westwood, so I will not be able to fulfill the remaining three months of my term.  I know that I am leaving the City in wonderful hands with an excellent Public Safety team, Public Works Department that is the envy of other cities, and a staff that is providing excellent service to the residents of Westwood.  I am sad to leave such a wonderful city and community.  I believe that the leadership that this Mayor and Council is providing to its citizens is unmatched.”

An appointment to fill Weber’s seat for the remaining months is expected to come soon.
