A local grade schooler’s love of books and art has earned her classmates a fun afternoon at Briarwood Elementary.
Greer Hembree, a Briarwood fourth grader, last week was announced as a winner in this year’s Price Chopper “Bag Your Favorite Book” contest. The contest invites metro-area school children to design a cover for their favorite book. Hembree’s design for “The Doll People” by Ann Martin won her a classroom party and a $500 donation to the Briarwood School library courtesy of Price Chopper.
More than 9,000 students submitted entries to the contest. Hembree found out about her big win at a special event at the school on Friday.
