There was no shortage of energy in the SM East gymnasium Monday as the girls basketball team took on Blue Valley North. That’ll happen when you pack a room full of kindergarteners through eight graders pumped to put on a performance.

Having spent Saturday preparing at the annual Little Lancer Dancers clinic, more than 200 area grade-schoolers provided the halftime entertainment for the crowds, performing the choreographed routine they learned studying with this year’s Lancer Dancers over the weekend. The event is gaining in popularity. Around 180 girls participated in 2012. This year, nearly 240 signed up.

(Alas, the Lancers fell 49-62 to the Mustangs…but that didn’t stop the Li’l Lancer Dancers from chanting “Go, Lancers, Go!” so loud that some of the moms reported ringing ears).

Thanks to Rachel Meiring of Kdog Photographers for the pics.
