Wild ride in stolen FedEx truck ends in Mission Hills

Prairie_Village_Police_BadgeThe wild goose chase that captured the media’s attention Wednesday afternoonafter a man stole a FedEx truck and proceeded to joyride throughout the metro area came to an abrupt end in northeast Johnson County this evening.

The press release from the PVPD follows:

On December 4, 2013, at approximately 1630 hours a Kansas City Missouri Police Officer attempted to stop a stolen Fed-Ex vehicle. The vehicle refused to stopand accelerated away from the officer. They pursued the vehicle with their emergencyequipment activated and stop sticks were deployed on the stolen vehicle in the area of 56th Street and Oak. The stolen vehicle continued westbound and entered Mission Hills, Kansas. The driver later stopped the stolen vehicle near 71st Street and Belinder was taken into custody without incident. The driver was identified as 19 year old Caleb M. Ownby of Kansas City, MO.
