The leftovers are almost gone and with a shortened time between Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, it may be time to grab that Christmas tree.
Sales were already brisk this past weekend at two northeast Johnson County Christmas tree lots run by local Boy Scout Troops. One of those sales is in its first year at the Shawnee Indian Mission in Fairway. It is a cooperative fundraiser manned by scouts from Troop 192 at Old Mission Methodist Church and volunteers for the Shawnee Indian Mission Foundation. The scout troop and the foundation will share the proceeds from the sale.
The other sale is at St. Michael and All Angels Church at 67th and Nall Avenue where Troop 199 has been selling trees for years as its major fundraiser.
Both tree lots will be selling until the inventory is gone. At the mission, tree sales will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. At St. Michael, sales will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekends.
Both locations have a wide selection of different tree types in all sizes and have hundreds of trees and wreaths for sale.
