Prairie Village resident SuEllen Fried isn’t just getting love from local organization’s lately. Her dedication to volunteering is attracting national attention.

The 81-year-old founder of BullySafeUSA was featured in an article in the Huffington Post in September. And on Friday, she made the CBS Evening News for her work visiting prisoners in Lansing Correctional Facility.

As the story notes, Fried’s program at the prison has a marked impact on the recidivism of those who participate. Less than 10 percent of inmates who work with her wind up back in prison — far below the national recidivism average of 50 percent.
