Johnson County Sheriff’s officials late last week identified Jordan MacDonald, a 21-year-old Prairie Village resident, as the victim of what is now being investigating as a homicide.

MacDonald’s body was found around the 8500 block of Ottawa Street in DeSoto early Wednesday. Police at one point said they were investigating what they categorized as an “unattended death.” But on Saturday, law enforcement agents arrested 31-year-old Dustin Maynard and charged him with first-degree murder in MacDonald’s death.

MacDonald worked at JT’s Grill and Sports Bar in DeSoto, where Maynard is believed to have spent some of the evening Tuesday night. MacDonald’s father Mike owns the establishment.

According to his Facebook profile, MacDonald graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 2010 and attended classes at Johnson County Community College.

Maynard is being held on $1 million bond.
