No matter how old you are, swimming is good for you, even in November. The Johnson County Parks and Recreation District’s K.C. Blazers Masters Swimming team is offering swim training for all swimmers over the age of 15 at the Roeland Park Aquatic Center. The first session is tomorrow morning.
Participants range from former Olympians to fitness swimmers who want something more organized and more challenging. This includes swimmers of all ability levels who find instruction in a competitive atmosphere is an advantage to swimming laps on their own.
The Roeland Park Aquatic Center is at 4843 Rosewood Dr. Workouts are offered seven times each week: 5:30 to 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; and 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
A punchcard good for 15 90-minute workouts costs $70 for Johnson County residents and $77 for non-residents. Cards can be purchased from the coach before or after any scheduled practice.
