Awakenings, a new outpatient clinic focusing on mental health and substance abuse issues, has opened in Prairie Village.
Its founder, Dr. Maria Cristina Davila, a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, is a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she received her medical degree. Dr. Davila completed a residency at the UMKC School of Medicine and was an assistant professor of psychiatry at UMKC. She also served as chairperson of the psychiatric medical department at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
Other members of the staff include Christopher McClish, clinic director and licensed clinical psychotherapist and addictions counselor; and Angie Logan, counselor.
A bilingual/cultural staff and access to a doctor who can prescribe and monitor medications are advantages of the program. It also offers evening hours for patients who cannot come for treatment during the day.
The clinic is located at 4200 Somerset Drive, Suite 217.
