Prairie Village seeking applicants for Parks and Rec vacancies

Parks and nice.
Parks are nice. You can help the parks by volunteering to serve on the Prairie Village Parks and Recreation committee.

Do you fashion yourself a local Leslie Knope? Would you love to rub elbows with the northeast Johnson County equivalent of Ron Swanson?

Well…I’ve got good news and I’ve got bad news.

The good news: Prairie Village Parks and Rec is looking for some new committee members. The bad: Work on the committee resembles in no way whatsoever the workaday lives of the characters in the popular NBC situation comedy.

Anyway, here’s the deal: The city has two vacancies on its Parks and Recreation committee, and is seeking applicants from Wards 5 and 6 to fill them. The committee primarily provides guidance to the City Council on issues pertaining to the city’s parks and pool system.

“Individuals who spend a lot of time in our parks (i.e. walking/jogging, attending sports practices, or playing with their children) and are interested in maintaining and improving our city’s park system should apply,” said Assistant to the City Administrator Danielle Dulin.

The openings are volunteer positions. The committee meets at 7 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month between September and May.

To apply, or to get more information, contact Dulin by sending an email here.
