Two weeks of excellent play have the SM East’s boys soccer team building momentum as they head into Tuesday’s final regular season game of the year — and then to the playoffs.

A week and a half ago, SM East knocked off Blue Valley Northwest, the second ranked team in the state, after Noah Eidemiller scored the only goal of the night with 13 minutes left in regulation. The on Oct. 15, the Lancers took a 1-1 regulation tie against Olathe South into overtime, where Ari Throckmorton scored on an assist from Eidemiller with just 10 seconds left to earn the Lancers the win.

The Lancers put on an offensive clinic in their next game, against Leavenworth last Thursday, where they walked away with a 10-0 shutout that included three goals from Johnnie Norton.

SM East, now 10-4-1 on the year, will face Olathe Northwest Tuesday in its last regular season game of the year (it’s Senior Night, as well). The game starts at 7 p.m. at the Shawnee Mission Soccer Complex on Field 2.
