Mission holds home energy fair Saturday at Sylvester Powell

The Mission Home Energy Fair Saturday at Sylvester Powell Community Center will give residents a chance to learn how to lower energy bills, improve the home and make it more comfortable with simple changes.

Sustainable mission logoThe fair runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. At 10:30 a.m., Mary English of Small Step Energy Solutions will speak on “DIY Weatherization Tips.” At 11:30 a.m., Jensen Adams of the Metropolitan Energy Center will talk on “Efficiency’s Instant Payback.”

Deffenbaugh Industries is providing free compost during the fair in the parking lot north of the center’s north lot. A total of 18 vendors will have exhibits at the fair and visitors can talk directly with experts who can give information about lowering energy costs.

The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served and drawings will be held for door prizes.
