News flash, Villagers: People. Like. Cinnamon rolls.

All baked goods, in fact.

Which is why it was perhaps no surprise the Dolce Bakery proprietor Erin Brown found herself doing a brisk business within minutes of opening the doors to her new space at the Village Shops. After three months of renovations, Dolce opened Tuesday at the large Village Shops location previously occupied by Village Active, directly across from Story. The old Dolce space, next to Village Flower Company, will become part of a new Einstein Bros Bagels.

The impetus for the move was the need for more production space — Brown had simply outgrown her kitchen. But the move also allows for the expansion of seating area. Brown says the new space has nearly three times as much capacity for customers.

Dolce has also freshened up its brand, unveiling a new logo and slightly tweaked name: The company is now officially Dolce Bakery instead of Dolce Baking Co.

Brown says the addition of Oddly Correct Coffee and Glace Ice Cream that the company announced when it made its move official this summer will be coming in the near future.
