Twisted Sisters, the Mission coffee shop on Johnson Drive that drew lots of attention for the high-profile threat from the rock band of a similar name, will be back in the national spotlight again this week.

This time, the scenario is vastly different. The shop will be shown in an episode of HGTV’s House Hunters show which is scheduled to air Friday at 9 p.m. local time. Owner Sandi Russell says the episode focuses on a young woman from the area looking for a house. Some of the scenes where she ponders her decision are filmed at Twisted Sisters.

Here is how Russell described the turn of events in response to a query on the shop’s Facebook page:
“We were contacted by the producers of HGTV House Hunters in January. They were filming a new home buyer and were looking for a small coffee shop to shoot one of the segments. They had seen pictures of it on our Facebook page and thought it would be a food fit. They came, loved the shop and did the filming. It was all very exciting and fun! Have no idea how much will be used and can’t wait to see what houses they went to and where they ended up buying. Very exciting!”

Russell said the film crew could not have been nicer during the filming and it was interesting to see the process that goes into filming a short segment.

This is how HGTV describes the coming episode:
“A woman who lost her dream house in a divorce is determined to start over again in Kansas City. With a budget of $400,000, she looks for a Craftsman-style abode that has special spot for her custom-made bar stools and a shower large enough for her dog.”

The episode repeats Saturday at noon if you miss it the first time around.
