Mission sobriety checkpoint nets 16 DUI charges

Mission police arrested or cited 24 people during the sobriety checkpoint last Friday night and early Saturday morning.

mission logoA total of 326 cars passed through the checkpoint during the night and 60 people were given field sobriety tests. Of those tested, police issues the following arrests or citations:
• 16 DUIs (including a felony drug arrest and a misdemeanor drug and paraphernalia charge)
• 4 Transporting Open Container charges
• 4 Refusals of the Preliminary Breath Test

Officers from Mission, Gardner, Merriam, Overland Park, Olathe, Lenexa, Leawood, Kansas Highway Patrol and Johnson County Sheriff’s office worked at the checkpoint. Citizens police academy participants from Mission and Johnson County also helped at the checkpoint.
