Hunter Family Vision has opened a new location in Prairie Village at 8201 Mission Road, Suite 104, at the southeast corner of Mission Road and Somerset.
The practice is led by optometrist Dr. Brandon Hunter. This is the second location for Hunter Family Vision. Dr. Hunter opened the first site at 135th and Roe in Leawood in 2006 after practicing in Shawnee for four years.
The practice specializes in ocular disease, contact lenses and sports vision. Dr. Hunter has served as the team eye doctor of the Kansas City Wizards for the previous two seasons. Vision and eye health evaluations, glaucoma and macular degeneration testing and pediatric exams and glasses are also features of the practice, along with a full line of high fashion optical products and in-office lens finishing.
Dr. Hunter, a resident of Old Leawood, is a SM West graduate and has his undergraduate degree from KU. His optometry degree is from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. His wife, Mandi, is an attorney with Martin, Leigh, Laws and Fritzlen in Kansas City.
Dr. Hunter lived in Prairie Village before moving to Leawood and says he found a need for eye care in this area. An “influx of new families” in the area made it attractive for a new office, he said, noting patients don’t want to travel too far for care. He had been looking for space in the Corinth area in particular.
Dr. Kim Swan also practices with Hunter Family Vision with an emphasis in pediatric eye health and vision, although she cares for patients of all ages.
A ribbon-cutting for the new office, in the Mission Bank building, is scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday.
