Memorial services for victim of Leawood house fire held Monday

Friends and family today are remembering Diane Jakobe, 53, of Leawood, who died of smoke inhalation after being trapped in her burning home Tuesday.

Fire crews were able to break into the home at the intersection of 95th Street and Meadow Lane and remove Jakobe alive, but she was listed in critical condition when she arrived at the hospital. Jakobe’s obituary states she died Wednesday at The University of Kansas Hospital.

Jakobe was a lifelong Kansas City-area resident, who worked most recently at Amerigroup in Overland Park. Memorial services are being held today at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, not far from Jakobe’s house.

She is survived by two sisters and two brothers.

Investigators have not released their report on the possible cause of the blaze, which resulted in a total loss of the house.
