Our full recap story is coming Monday, but we can’t resist the urge to post Brian Libeer’s footage of the game-winning play from Friday’s insane Shawnee Mission East football win over Olathe Northwest.
A bit of set up: The Lancers were leading 21-14 with a couple minutes left in the game when Chip Sherman’s Ravens ground out a hard-fought touchdown with about :35 remaining. Sherman elected to have his team try for a go-ahead two-point conversion instead of a field goal — and the Ravens succeeded, putting them up 22-21.
Quarterback Christian Blessen and the Lancers’ offense went into rush mode, with Blessen dumping the ball of to wide receivers near the out-of-bounds line to move SM East up the field to Olathe NW’s 36 yard line with :03 on the clock.
It was Lancer Day, indeed.
