Traffic was flowing again through the intersection of Lamar and Martway this morning.

This morning marked a milestone for those who commute across Mission on Martway or who frequent the Hy-Vee, Sylvester Powell Community Center or the host of other businesses along the Martway corridor. Martway is open again.

The entire length of the Martway rehabilitation project – Broadmoor to Woodson – opened late Thursday. No more full street closures are expected as the project is completed, according to Justin Pregont, the public works project manager. However, some lane reductions are possible during the remaining work, but those should only be during working hours, Pregont said.

A final layer of asphalt will be applied next week, but should not disrupt through traffic. Martway has been closed in sections for much of the summer for the major street renovation. Johnson Drive traffic has also seen disruptions, though no street closures, as utility work prepares it for its full rebuild next summer.
