To those residents of the neighborhoods surround the Village Shops who found themselves in a lurch for a casual Sunday morning gathering spot after the closure of Einstein Bros. in November 2012, we have good news: Your bagel shop is set to return.

Roxanne Elliot of LANE4 Property Group confirmed on Friday that Einstein has signed a lease to take over the spaces currently occupied by Dolce Baking Co. and Starbucks Coffee. Starbucks has also signed a new lease to occupy part of the space in the new building to be built on the site of the demolished Waid’s Restaurant.

Dolce signed a lease earlier this summer to move into the space at the Village Shops most recently occupied by Village Active.

Elliot said she expects Starbucks to open in its new space in spring of 2014. Site plans for the new building approved by the Prairie Village Planning Commission allow for a drive-thru. The renovation and construction plans would tentatively allow Einstein to re-open at the Village in fall 2014.

LANE4 is working to sign a tenant or tenants for the 3,700 square feet of additional space that will be available in the Waid’s replacement building.
