Roeland Park is scheduled to become the next Google Fiber destination in northeast Johnson County. The city council agenda for tonight includes an agreement for council approval with Google that is similar to the pacts other area cities have signed.
Roeland Park joins the growing list of communities where Google has announced its plans to install its high-speed fiber network capable of one Gigabit service. Prairie Village, Leawood and Mission were recently announced additions. Westwood, Westwood Hills and Mission Woods have been on the Google agenda for several months.
The staff recommendation to the Roeland Park Council tonight is to approve a Network Cooperation Services Agreement which includes a licensing agreement and a structure attachment agreement.
