Mother nature dialed up one of her hottest evenings of the year Friday, prompting a bit of a shuffle in the schedule for the 2013 Blue/Black Lancer football scrimmages — but that didn’t stop supporters from coming out to get an early look at this year’s teams.

Because the temperatures pushed the heat index about 100 degrees at 5 p.m., the little Lancers (whose club rules prohibit them from taking the field in such heat) couldn’t practice as planned. But the scrimmages began an hour later than initially scheduled at 6 p.m.

SM East’s varsity team has its season opening game at Leavenworth this Friday, Sept. 6.
