Mission says goodbye to old pool Sunday, gets ready for new aquatic center

You can say goodbye to the Mission pool on Sunday and get ready for the new aquatic center with both a groundbreaking and an ‘End of an Era’ Pool Party.

The groundbreaking for the new center will be held at 3:45 p.m. Sunday and a pool party will follow from 4 to 6 p.m. Food, music and games are promised during the farewell pool party and admission is free.

Monday is the last day for the pool and it’s pooches who get the last party. You can bring your dog for the last swim but it costs $5 and proof of shots. Two 45-minute sessions are scheduled at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.

Mission voters last November approved a sales tax to finance the pool replacement. The new design included public input about the attractions that would be part of the aquatic center.
