Prairie Village Assistant City Administrator Dennis Enslinger has accepted a job as the Assistant City Manager of Gaithersburg, Md. He is expected to start the new job in late August.

Enslinger, 49, has been with Prairie VIllage since 2008, when he joined the city’s staff from a position as Community Development Director in Merriam. In Merriam, Enslinger had worked with Quinn Bennion, who started his role as Prairie Village City Administrator in 2007.

Previously, Enslinger worked in city planning roles for Independence, Mo., and Lawrence, Kan.

As the staffer responsible for Prairie Village’s planning, zoning and code enforcement activities, among several other oversight duties, Enslinger has been a visible presence in the proceedings surrounding the proposed redevelopment of Mission Valley and in discussions of the city’s firearms ordinances.

With just over 60,000 residents, Gaithersburg is roughly three times the size of Prairie Village. Enslinger will be paid $125,000 in his new position.
