It is all but certain that a week from today the Prairie Village Planning Commission will vote on whether to recommend approval for the Tutera Group’s controversial proposal to build the Mission Chateau senior living community on the site of Mission Valley Middle School.
That vote will set in motion a chain of events that will ultimately decide the fate of the project: Once the Planning Commission has cast its vote, homeowners in the vicinity of the Mission Valley property will have the right to file a protest petition against the Tutera group’s permit application. Should homeowners representing 20 percent of the area within 200 feet of the Mission Valley site sign on to the protest petition, Tutera will need the votes of 3/4 of the 12 Prairie Village City Council members for the development to move forward. The City Council vote is likely to come in September.
So what do you think is the most likely outcome of the Mission Chateau proposal as the Planning Commission vote date nears?
