The Taco Republic truck that has been stationed on the Kansas City, Kan., side of the intersection of County Line Road and Mission Road on Sundays is preparing to make a short trek to a new temporary home in Westwood.

Bread & Butter Concepts president Alan Gaylin said a number of factors played into decision to move the truck’s Sunday location, but mostly the company needed to find a new spot as it prepares to dig up the parking lot outside the old filling station where it will be opening the permanent Taco Republic facility later this year.

“We’re getting ready to start major work on the site and just couldn’t have the truck stationed there with all that work going on,” he said.

After securing a business license from Westwood, Taco Republic is prepared to start selling on Sundays from the parking lot of Westwood Chiropractic at 4711 Mission Road, less than a block to the south of the Kansas City, Kan., location.

The truck will be at its new location starting this Sunday, July 21, and will be there each Sunday thereafter for the next six to eight weeks. The truck will open at 10:30 a.m. and close at 5:30 p.m.

Truck coordinator Nicole Capolino said the move should be a win-win situation for the company and the city.

“The City of Westwood is thrilled we’ll be coming to town,” Capolino said. “It’s going to work out really well I think.”
