Prairie Village Assistant City Administrator Dennis Enslinger told the City Council Monday that it appears likely the Planning Commission will vote on a recommendation for the proposed Mission Chateau senior living community at its August 6 meeting.
Should the recommendation vote occur August 6, Enslinger predicted the matter would come before the City Council for a final vote at its September 3 meeting.
Once the Planning Commission votes on the project, the formal public hearing on the issue will close and homeowners near the Mission Valley property will have the chance to file a protest petition — an option that appears likely given the continued concerns neighbors voiced at a community meeting last week.
Should the neighbors collect enough signatures on the protest petition, city ordinance would require a supermajority of nine of the 12 council members to approve the project.
