Recently retired SM East principal Dr. Karl Krawitz is recovering from a stroke he suffered while visiting his family in Maryland the week before last.

John McKinney, who was named Krawitz’s successor at SM East, said this weekend that he’d spoken briefly with Krawitz early last week and that Krawitz reported he was recovering well.

“He wasn’t able to talk for long, but did say that he was doing well and, as long as he did what the doctors told him to do, had a very good chance of making a full recovery,” McKinney said.

Luckily, Krawitz was very near a hospital that specializes in neurological issues when the stroke occurred, McKinney said. He was transferred to a recovery facility last week, and hopes to be back to his home in Olathe sometime this week.

Keep Dr. Krawitz and his family in your thoughts this week.
