If you are harboring any old electronics or household hazardous waste like paint, pesticides or motor oil, you have three chances to get them out of the house. The first chance is this Saturday, but you need to make an appointment.
The drop-off site is at the wastewater treatment plant on Lamar near I-35. Collection times are from 8 to 11:30 a.m., but you must have scheduled your drop-off appointment (you can’t get in otherwise), which you can do online or by calling 913-715-6900. All of the information about getting an appointment, materials that are accepted, and how to package materials can be found here.
August 10 and September 14 are additional collection dates. Among the electronics that will be accepted for free are cameras, CD players, cell phones, computers, fax machines, printers, scanners, video games, small kitchen appliances. A fee is charged for CRT tube televisions and wooden console televisions.
