Roeland Park is accepting applications for its Municipal Court Judge as part of its process of putting professional services out for bid on a three to four year cycle.
The city council agreed this month to put out a request for qualifications for the judge’s position with applications due by July 16. Included in the professional services group besides the judge are the city attorney, city ethics attorney, city engineer, and city prosecutor.
The municipal judge position was last advertised in 2009 and is currently held by Michelle DeCicco, who is still eligible to apply for the position again. After applications are received, a panel of of council members and staff will conduct interviews and the mayor will make the appointment in August for council ratification.
Applicants must be Johnson County residents who are attorneys admitted to practice in Kansas. They must be U.S. citizens and have five years experience as lawyer, judge or law school instructor.
