Huge annual JoCo library sale kicks off Wednesday at Metcalf South

Hey, NEJCers, you know what I like?

Readin’.

‘Specially in the summer. What with the pleasant weather and all.

Which is why you’d better believe that this family will be amongst the patrons at the “Annual Sizzlin’ Summer Used Book Sale” this week, put on by the Johnson County Library in cooperation with the Friends of the Library.

This 25th anniversary event starts tomorrow on the lower level of the Metcalf South Shopping Center. Here is the sale schedule:

  • Wednesday, June 5, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 6, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Friday, June 7, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 8, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The library’s Marsha Bennett says most of the estimated 100,000 items are priced from $.50 to $3.00.

“Not only are items weeded from the library’s collection taken to the sale, but donations from the community make up about 60 percent of the items offered at the sale,” Bennett said. “Books and audiovisual materials are sorted by categories so people can easily find their area of interest or favorite authors. There are hardbacks, paperbacks, fiction and nonfiction, children’s books, as well as some audiovisual materials. And the prices are very reasonable.”
