4 Troop 199 high schoolers awarded Eagle Scout badges

Four local high school students this past weekend reached the pinnacle of Boy Scouting, receiving their Eagle Scout badges at a ceremony and St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. All four are members of Troop 199. Their names, the names of their parents and a brief description of their Eagle Scout projects follow:

Caleb Huffman, son of Leslie and Grant Huffman, current SM North student:

Planned supervised and secure the donation of supplies for construction of four underground water drainage extensions to restore the foundation of the The Grinter State Historic House in Kansas City, Kan.

Jacob Milgrim, son of Nancy and Robert Milgrim, current SM East student

Supervised and constructed a swinging bench, cleared brush and planted small tree in the Prairie Elementary School garden in Prairie Village.

Cory Perkins, son of Donna and Jeff Perkins, recent SM East graduate

Supervised construction and planting of Peace Poles depicting the Seven Sanctuary Commitments at “Spofford,” a home providing prevention and treatment to abused and neglected children in Kansas City.

Truman Peters, son of Liz and Greg Peters, current SM East student

Created an outdoor learning and eating area at Rising Star Elementary in Lenexa.
