A last ditch effort to save a 50-plus year old Prairie Village tradition wasn’t able to keep its head above water.
Prairie Village Assistant to the City Administrator Danielle Dulin said that the potential coach who had stepped forward with interest in leading the team was not able to find 25 participants by the Friday deadline:
The applicant for the head coach position was not able to get 25 girls to sign up for the team or obtain the necessary certifications in time to start practice and have the team ready for a water show at the end of July. The City hopes that the recently rejuvenated interest in the Prairie Village Synchronized Swimming Team will carry through to next season and encourage girls and their parents to sign up earlier in 2014.
So take note, synchro fans: If you want the Water Show to return in 2014, get organized early.
