A spectacular Friday evening in Prairie Village brought out the biggest crowd ever for the Prairie Village Art Show, say its organizers.
Thousands of people – from tiny tots to experienced art aficionados — visited the Village Shops event over the weekend, but Friday and Saturday in particular brought out some of the most people the event has ever seen.
Donna Potts, who leads the Prairie Village Merchants Association and helps put the show on every year, said the feedback from this year’s group of displaying artists was very positive. In addition to being pleased with sales, several artists commented on the quality of the area.
“They all love the neighborhood and one complimented the neighborhood on the respect the community shows the artists and that so many are educated about art and also want to learn more,” Potts said.
The poster art for this year’s fair, by Mary DiStefano-Jarowitz of Austin, Tex., was so popular that organizers are having to order more posters for people to pick up, since the original batch sold out.
Potts said anyone with suggestions for next year’s featured artist should send them to her for the committee’s consideration.
