Young entrepreneur targets DIYers with rental delivery business

Gabe Ismert has always been a hands-on kind of guy.

So armed with a fresh pair of degrees in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from Benedictine College, Ismert decided to take a hand-on approach to his future by launching a new business that helps do-it-yourselfers get the equipment they need without having to leave their homes.

Ismert was raised around the south Kansas City neighborhoods near Ward Parkway Mall, and the new business, Deliver-Rents, is starting off targeting that area as well as northeast Johnson County.

Through the company’s website, customers can order a piece of rental equipment — from carpet cleaners to power washers to tillers — and Ismert will deliver them and pick them up. The equipment is priced for a full-day’s worth of use, meaning renters don’t have to worry about rushing to finish using the equipment.

“If you told me a year ago that I would be operating my own start-up rental business I would have laughed at you,” he said. “In school, I simply had a long term goal to start my own business, but I only came upon my current Deliver-Rents idea recently. With the help of friends, family, and countless others with sound business advice and experience, I turned my entrepreneurial dream into a reality.”
