Share this story:

A number of Prairie Village and north Leawood residents near the Kansas City, Mo., border Thursday night were awakened by a police search for two suspects in a robbery that took place at 76th and Wornall.

Prairie Village Police Capt. Wes Lovett said his department, as well as officers from Leawood and Kansas City, Mo., took part in the search, which began around 11:30 and lasted until approximately 1 p.m.

After receiving a call from a resident in the 7800 block of State Line that the suspects had been spotted in a backyard, police did a house by house search of yards in the area. Kansas City, Mo.’s police helicopter assisted in the search as well.

Police sent out a “Code Red” alert to phones in the area to let residents know about the search.

Lovett said the search was unsuccessful, and that police are still looking for the suspects, described as a white male in a black hooded sweatshirt and a Hispanic male in a beige hooded sweatshirt.

We’ll update this post if additional details become available.
