SM East’s boys lax team is headed back to the Lacrosse Association of Kansas City’s championship game. And they’ll have a familiar date.

With a 7-5 victory over top-ranked Rockhurst High School Wednesday, the Lancers earned the right to face Pembroke Hill in the title game Friday – a rematch of the 2012 title game, the inaugural LAKC championship. SM East won that game with an overtime goal from then-junior Connor McGannon.

A big third quarter pushed the Lancers ahead of the Hawklets , and while Rockhurst made a late push to cut their deficit from three to two with four minutes of play remaining, the Lancers were able to hold on for the victory.

The championship game will start at 7:30 p.m. Friday at UMKC. Prior to the championship game, the Kansas City Youth Lacrosse League will hold its all-star game starting at 5 p.m.
