If you have been sitting at Hi Hat Coffee at 50th Terrace wondering why all of that dirt is being moved around across the street, it is part of the renovation of the Pembroke Hill School soccer field.
The plans submitted through Westwood call for making the soccer field a regulation size by extending its length. It also means terracing the hill at the north end which faces 50th Terrace across from Hi Hat and putting in retaining walls.
The Pembroke fields actually sit in Mission Woods – which has plans reviewed and permits issued by Westwood — while across 50th Terrace the Hi Hat sits in Westwood Hills. A new sewer line was buried along 50th Terrace last month along the hill. The new field plans call for a restroom to be built on the west side of the renovated field. The field will also be used for lacrosse, according to the plans, and will be completed over the summer.
