Mission Family Fun fest set to kick off Thursday

The Mission Family Fun Festival kicks off Thursday night with a carnival just north of the Sylvester Powell Community Center. The big day is Saturday when the Mayor’s Community Parade starts down Johnson Drive at 11 a.m.

Saturday begins with a Rotary Club Pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. After the parade on Saturday, Beverly Park (also across from Sylvester Powell) will be the spot for food and kids’ activities, which this year include a frog-jumping contest (you must bring your own frog) and a coin hunt.

The carnival will open at 6 p.m. both Thursday and Friday nights, 11 a.m. on Saturday and runs noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Another addition this year is the Apple Pie Contest. Rules for both frog and pie contests can be found on the Mission Convention and Visitors Bureau site along with a full festival schedule.
