After a wild week of weather that caused the cancellation its two final regular season games, the Lancers lacrosse team finally took to the field again Monday — and in very successful fashion.

SM East, sitting in third place in the Lacrosse Association of Kansas City rankings, opened the first round of the playoffs Monday against 8-6 Olathe South, notching an impressive 13-6 win. That victory earned the team the right to take on rival Rockhurst Wednesday in the semifinals at UMKC.

Rockhurst was responsible for one of SM East’s five regular season losses, eking out a one-goal overtime victory when the teams met April 18.

The time of Wednesday’s game should be announced today.
