The nominations are out. And the cast and crew of SM East’s The Drowsy Chaperone couldn’t be much happier.

Starlight Theatre on Thursday officially released the nominees for this year’s Blue Star Awards, honoring the best of Kansas City-area high school musical theatre. SM East learned last week that it had 10 nominees among Blue Star’s 17 categories, but didn’t know until yesterday in which categories it had made the cut. Most excitingly, the school in nominated in the Outstanding Overall Production category — meaning the entire cast will get to reunite on stage for the performance of a song at the Blue Star Awards Ceremony at Starlight May 23.

Congratulations, SM East theater team!
