Prairie Village seeking nominees for 2013 Community Spirit Awards

Doris Wiegers accepted the Lifetime Community Spirit Award at last year’s VillageFest celebrations.

A’ight, Villagers. Personally, I’m still licking my wounds from yesterday’s news that Coach Chip Sherman is moving south. So I figured we could all use a little something to brighten our spirits.

And what’s more spirit brightening than Community Spirit!

Prairie Village this week opened the nomination period for this year’s Community Spirit Awards, honors citizens and businesses who make Prairie Village “a great place to call home”:

The Prairie Village Kansas VillageFest Fourth of July 2013 celebration festivities will again include the presentation of Community Spirit Awards. These awards are intended to recognize residents, youths, organizations, businesses, or business leaders whose contributions of time and commitment to service make Prairie Village a great place to call home.

Nominations for the VillageFest 2013 Community Spirit Awards will be accepted through June 14th. Submissions should include the completed nomination form [PDF], a one page narrative describing why the nominee deserves the award, and may include additional supporting information such as news articles or letters of support.

Nomination forms can be mailed to: VillageFest Community Spirit Awards, 7700 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, KS 66208.

The city is also looking for VillageFest volunteers:
