The national education reporter for NPR featured the Prairie Village school for the second time in as many months during Sunday’s broadcast of Weekend Edition. This time, the report focused on the debate over Common Core standards.
Dr. Karl Krawitz, set to retire at the end of the school year, took a firm stand against the idea of mandating Common Core standards — and managed to work a bit of a ribbing for our friends in the statehouse, as well:
Kansas is struggling right now. I mean my goodness, we’re still trying to figure out whether or not evolution should be taught…I would do everything I can to keep Common Core out of this school.
