The Shawnee Mission School District announced Wednesday that it would be sticking to its originally published end-of-the-year calendar, and not extending class to make up for lost time in on account of the snowstorms. As was the case last year, Indian Hill students will dismiss two days early to give staff more time to prepare for summer construction:
(SHAWNEE MISSION) The final day of the 2012-13 school year has been determined. While there were inclement weather days taken during the school year, Shawnee Mission will follow the final dates of school as published in the district calendar.
The last day of classes for students in grades 1-11 will be Thursday, May 23 and it will be an early dismissal day. The last day of classes for kindergarten students will be May 22.
Students at Hocker Grove, Indian Hills, Indian Woods, Trailridge, and Westridge Middle Schools and Rising Star Elementary School will be dismissed two days early to allow staff time to pack up and move materials to prepare for construction that will take place within their buildings during the summer. The final day for students at these schools will be May 21. The final day for kindergarten students at Rising Star will be May 20.
The final day for teachers will be Friday, May 24.
