Polls open Tuesday for SMSD, Fairway, Roeland Park and Mission Woods elections

It may not be exactly balmy Tuesday for Spring election day, but at least voters won’t be facing the foot of snow that made this year’s primary a nightmare for candidates, voters and election workers.

The polls are open tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. as usual and almost everything you want to know about the election can be found on the Johnson County Election Office site. Everyone in northeast Johnson County will have at least a few choices to make on the ballot. In a few areas, notably Roeland Park, there will be some additional choices that are significant.

Across the Shawnee Mission School District voters will decide the at-large seat that is being contested by Cindy Neighbor and Mark Read. Johnson County Community College trustees will also be on everyone’s ballot with a chance to vote for four of the six candidates.

Fairway and Roeland Park have two contested council races each and Roeland Park will choose its next mayor. Mission Woods voters get to choose five of six candidates running for council.
