Well, bookworms: Your Wednesday nights just got brighter.
Starting yesterday, the Corinth branch of the Johnson County Library will now be able to remain open on Wednesdays until 9 p.m. — the same time it closes Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
In January 2012, the county eliminated 29 staff positions from the library system’s budget, which forced branches throughout the area to reduce their hours on account of limited staff. In its 2013 budget, the county was able to include funding for 10 of the staff positions that had been cut last year. As a result, the system has the resources to extend its Wednesday night hours at Corinth, which had a 5 p.m. closing time instated after the 2012 cuts.
The new Corinth hours of operation are:
Monday through Thursday: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
Friday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
