North Leawood Vintage Market closes as store moves south to Town Center

Vintage Market, that quirky purveyor of quirky home furnishings, has closed its store in the north Leawood shops at Lee Boulevard and Somerset Drive in favor of a new space at Town Center Plaza.

The north Leawood location closed quickly and quietly earlier this month February 14, with several neighboring tenants wondering what prompted the move. According to the store’s Facebook page, the north Leawood closure came as staff were preparing for the opening of “The Pink Chandelier: A Vintage Market” at 5053 W. 117th Street.

Vintage Market has two additional locations in the metro area, with one in the Crossroads district and one in Parkville, Mo.

The south Leawood location is scheduled to open today.

UPDATED: A source familiar with the situation told us over the weekend that the Vintage Market owner managers left in the middle of the night without giving any notice to the property owner or the many vendors who sold goods there. The vendors received a letter from an attorney owner Kim Dye leaving in doubt whether they would be compensated for the goods they had sold at Vintage Market. We’ll be doing a follow up piece on this later this week.
