Applications being accepted for 2013 Exterior Grant program in Prairie Village

This Prairie Village home was among those that received a grant to spur exterior improvements in 2012.

If home repairs are on your docket for the upcoming warmer months and you live in Prairie Village, you may want to consider looking into the city’s Exterior Grant Program.

The city began accepting applications for this year’s grants March 1. Homeowners in designated areas of the city can be eligible for up reimbursements for improvements to properties’ exteriors that are visible from the street. Projects must be pre-approved by the city and require at least a $5,000 investment on the part of the homeowner. The city will reimburse 20 percent of approved expenses up to $2,500.

The city credits last year’s program with incentivizing nearly $250,000 in spending on home improvement in the city.

For a map of the areas eligible for the program, visit the city’s Exterior Grant website, or call the Codes Department at 913-381-6464.
