Fairway declares traffic emergency in anticipation of second major snowstorm

Stop me if this sounds familiar…

In anticipation of substantial predicted snowfall Monday evening, the city of Fairway has declared a traffic emergency and is prohibiting on-street parking starting at noon today. The on-street parking ban will last at least through 5 p.m. Tuesday.

“The priority of the Public Works Department will be to keep every city maintained street accessible to emergency vehicles,” read a statement sent by the city Sunday night. “As with the previous storm they will focus their resources during the most intense snowfall to keeping main roads open, then secondary and finally residential. When snowfall rates allow, Public Works will plow out curb to curb and clean intersections. If you are involved in a non-injury accident and your car is drivable the Police Department may direct you to exchange information with the other parties involved and file a walk in report at a later time.”
