The start of the new year will bring some fresh faces to Johnson County’s governing body and administration.
Third District Commissioner David Lindstrom, who represents much of south Leawood and Overland Park, and Sixth District Commissioner Calvin Hayden, who represents the west and southwest parts of the county, will leave office in the middle of the month. New commissioners Steve Klika (Third District) and John Toplikar (Sixth District) will be sworn in Monday, Jan. 14 in the Johnson County Administration Building in Olathe.
Sheriff Frank Denning and District Attorney Steve Howe, who were both re-elected in November, will be sworn in Jan. 14 as well.
Johnson County is also welcoming a new Public Affairs and Communications Director. Nancy Mays comes to the position after having spent 15 years in various brand management and strategic communications roles. She was most recently the executive director for communications for Applebee’s parent company.
